MyRateCheck is operated by Zelviant Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17095371). Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. We are the data controller for the personal data processed through this service.

2. What data we collect
When you use MyRateCheck, we may collect:

3. Lawful basis for processing
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we rely on the following lawful bases:

4. How we use your data
We use data from the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), accessed via publicly available government data, to retrieve rateable values and comparable property information. This data is combined with your postcode to produce an AI-generated assessment of your business rates. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
5. Third-party processors
We share data with the following processors, each of whom has their own privacy policy:

6. Data retention
Assessment data and associated personal data are retained for 24 months from the date of the assessment, after which they are automatically deleted. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by UK tax law. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see section 8).
7. Data security
We protect your data using encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and encryption at rest for personally identifiable information stored in our database. Access to customer data is restricted to authorised personnel only using role-based access controls.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

9. Cookies
MyRateCheck uses only essential cookies required for the service to function (such as session management). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. No consent banner is required for strictly necessary cookies under UK law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
